About Speaker: Professor Tan Kong Yam will be Guest-of-honour (GOH) of the saloon. An eminent scholar, Professor Tan earned his Ph.D from Stanford University and a Master’s degree from Princeton University in USA. He was former chief economist for the Singapore government and as Assistant Director at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
He was the chief assistant to Dr Goh Keng Swee, the former deputy Prime Minister of Singapore invited by Mr Deng Xiaoping to advise China on economic development strategy. He was a senior economist at the World Bank office in Beijing and was a member of the World Bank expert group on the eleventh five year plan for the State Council in China.

In the event, Prof Tan Kong Yam shared his view on the US – China – Russia relationship and potential geopolitics for Singapore. He gave several example about rare earth in China and oil resource for US. At the end of speech, he also shared his view on the future trending of the world. Finally, he answered questions from audiences.
