Introduce Finalist – Team AI Embodied Robots for Education from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

AI Embodied Robots for Education introduces Charlie, an embodied AI social humanoid robot developed at Singapore University of Social Sciences. Unlike screen-bound chatbots, Charlie couples a physically expressive humanoid body with state-of-the-art conversational AI to deliver interactive lessons through natural speech, gestures, facial animation, and real-time question answering. Built on the open-source Poppy platform and enhanced with a Raspberry Pi controller, Dynamixel servos, and an animated digital face, Charlie provides the physical presence, social cues, and emotional connection that improve student engagement. The project demonstrates how embodied agents can make classroom AI feel more human and pedagogically effective.
