First Call for Participation — Registration Open

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly entering every aspect of our life and education, in particular, is undergoing profound changes. To respond to this global challenge, we are organising HackaStone — a competition designed for tertiary students from any university worldwide to develop cutting-edge AI capability through project-based learning.

Why Join us? “HackATHON Through CAPstone”
Different from conventional hackathons (typically ~24 hours), HackaStone is based on the idea of credit-bearing, semester-long Capstone projects widely used across universities worldwide.
  • Global Event: Any tertiary student matriculated in any higher learning institution in the world can register. Institutions with credit-bearing CAPstone projects (though not compulsory) are welcome.
  • Scope: Build AI agents for higher education, K-12 education, preschool & special needs education, vocational & professional education, lifelong learning, etc.
  • Role of Participating Universities: Each participating university can recommend up to three teams to advance to the semi-finals. The university advisor is an authorised person to make the nomination.
  • International Collaboration: Two universities from different cities, different countries, or even different continents can form a joint team. Interdisciplinary teaming is encouraged.
  • Workshops & Seminars: Workshops and seminars delivered by experts from leading universities or industries are in the pipeline. More details will be announced soon.
  • Awards and Winner Announcement: Winners will be announced at the 2026 Holland Conference on AI for Education (Amsterdam, 30 Oct 2026). Finalists may win:
    • The HackaStone Gold Award
    • The HackaStone Silver Award
    • The HackaStone Bronze Award
    • The HackaStone Best Collaboration Team Award
  • Organiser: Originated in Singapore, HackaStone 2026 is the inaugural competition hosted by the Association of Global AI Technomics Education and Exchange (GATEE).
